Website In Britain, thousands of bicycles are thrown away or lie unused in sheds, while people in Africa are without transport apart from their feet. Walking can take up to 4 hours per day (for collecting water, or walking to school). The burden adds massively to the average family's workload, hampering economic and education opportunities. A bicycle cuts travel time to a fraction, even carrying pasengers and heavy loads.
Re~Cycle's mission is to collect and ship secondhand bicycles and parts to Africa. With the help of our partners, we teach local people the skills to repair and maintain them, to improve their lives in a sustainable way.
We have sent over 23,000 bikes so far! |
